Prof. António Ginjeira

Professor Ginjeira graduated in Medicine in 1982 and in Dentistry in 1985, and later earned his PhD in Endodontics in 2008, consolidating his scientific and clinical authority. He is currently the Head of the Department of Endodontics at the University of LisbonCoordinator of the Master’s Program in Endodontics, where he prepares future international endodontic specialists through a postgraduate curriculum whose diploma is recognized by the European Society of Endodontology (ESE).

What’s the structure?

🔹 Day 1 – Foundations & First Surgical Steps

We start by making things clear and logical, not overwhelming.

✔️ Decision-making & treatment planning
✔️ Soft and hard tissue management
✔️ Surgical access & ergonomics under the microscope

Workshop:
👉 practical training on pig mandibles, focusing on tissue handling, sutures and surgical flow.


🔹 Day 2 – Periapical Surgery 

This day is all about step by step protocol, how to avoid mistakes, and how to aim for predictable healing and long-term success.


What you’ll actually DO

Each participant will individually perform every step, guided and supervised:

  • Incision & flap design
  • Flap elevation
  • Osteotomy
  • Apicoectomy
  • Retrograde preparation
  • Retrograde filling
  • Suturing

Training is done on dedicated surgical models and pig mandibles, under loupe magnification, using proper microsurgical armamentarium.
